Summary of Previous Public Meetings
November 4, 2004
On Thursday, November 4, 2004 a Public Meeting was held on the subject project at the Paint Lick Elementary School. This meeting was held to present the Recommended Alignment for the KY 52 reconstruction in Garrard and Madison Counties. Those attending were encouraged to make both positive and negative comments on the proposed roadway. The map presented at the meeting showing the Recommended Alignment can be viewed here.

On Tuesday, April 22, 2003 a Public Meeting was held on the subject project at the Paint Lick Elementary School. This meeting was held to present alignment alternates for the KY 52 reconstruction in Garrard and Madison Counties. Those attending were encouraged to make comments on the positive and negative effects of the alignments, and to indicate on a map handout which alternate (or combination of alternates) they would like to see for the new roadway. Property owners and boundaries were also shown. These will be updated from time to time, using information provided by the public at the meeting, and information as updated in the PVA offices in both counties. November 29th On Thursday, November 29, 2001, a Public Meeting was held on the subject project at the Paint Lick Elementary School, 6975 Highway 52 West, Paint Lick, Kentucky. This Public Information Meeting was scheduled to provide all interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the construction of KY 52 from KY 954 in Garrard County to Wallace Mill Road in Madison County. The Purpose of this meeting was to gather input from Garrard County citizens and users of this road regarding the project. This meeting also partially fulfilled the Public Involvement requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (1969) and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (1969). No Build Alternates were presented at the meeting. |
This alignment was derived by the study and balancing of a number of factors. These include
the minimizing of right of way impacts, avoiding historical sites, the safety and location of side road
intersections and major access points, minimizing the splitting and impacts to farmland properties, and
addressing comments from previous public meetings
Two main corridors for the roadway
were presented. The east alternate (shown in dark blue) stays along
or just east of the existing roadway. The west alternate (shown in red), stays to the west of the existing roadway. Using
the green and light blue connecting alternates, a portion of the blue could be combined with a portion of the red to create
another alternate.
